Dr. Carol A. Scott, Ph.D.

Carol Scott is Professor of Marketing at the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA and an expert in marketing strategy and consumer and market research. She has over twenty-five years of experience in providing expert marketing analysis and testimony in cases involving trademarks, copyrights, class certification, damages related to infringement of intellectual property, and other questions of marketing strategy, such as advertising, distribution, consumer behavior.

Dr. Scott has conducted marketing analysis and consumer research to determine relevant markets and likely market shares in the "but-for" infringement world, the likelihood of confusion regarding trademarks and copyrights, the homogeneity of proposed classes for litigation, consumer perceptions of product features and advertising claims, and other aspects of consumer behaviors. Her analysis has covered a wide range of industries including consumer apparel, medical products, Internet websites and communications, and numerous other product and service industries.

As professor of marketing at the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA, Dr. Scott has taught a wide variety of marketing courses to MBA, Executive MBA, and Ph.D. students since 1977. She is also the faculty director of the Executive Program, a non-degree, certificate program for mid-level and senior managers. From 1986 through 1994, she held several administrative positions with the Anderson School including Chairman of the Faculty and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. She was a visiting faculty member at the Harvard Business School in 1985. Her research has been published in marketing and social science journals, and she has served on the editorial boards of the Journal of Consumer Research, the Journal of Marketing Research, and the Journal of Marketing. She is a member of the board of directors of United Online, Inc.

Dr. Scott has a Ph.D. and M.S. from Northwestern University (1975, 1972), and a B.S. from the University of Texas at Austin (1970)
